Locations: Seminar room 2, Göttingen Centre for Digital Humanities, Papendiek 16 (Heynehaus), 37073 Göttingen

Abstract

TextGrid is a virtual research environment that provides various tools and services for digital humanists. The workshop will initiate the participants in the use of the TextGridLab, a free portable software, and the basic components of its infrastructure. After an introductory presentation, typical workflows will be demonstrated and can be reproduced by the participants in simple hands-on exercises. The workshop will focus on the Project and User Management, a powerful file and rights management module supporting the access to the TextGrid Repository, and both the built-in XML Editor and Text Image Link Editor as editing tools with a wide functional range.

For active participation both a laptop with an up-to-date Java version and a DARIAH account are required. The installation of the TextGridLab in preparation of the workshop is recommended. Computer literacy is the only previous knowledge expected from participants.
